![]() There might not be any cocoa in this, but it sure tastes like there is. They know how to fake it, that’s for sure. I really like this one for the good chocolate flavour. First I experience the milk chocolate then I taste the burnt/acidic coffee taste. They are like two separate flavours occupying one drink. Interestingly, the coffee flavour and the chocolate flavour don’t mix at all. It kinda has this bite to it that’s both burnt tasting but also acidic. The coffee flavour tastes kinda how it smells actually. The first taste is a creamy chocolate milk-like taste which then evolves into a very roasted coffee flavour. They don’t say at all! It might as well be because the little description sure doesn’t say anything different. I’m not sure I like that.īesides, I don’t even know if this is the same coffee they used in Mean Bean. It also has a kind of roasted/burnt scent to it. This smells like a fresh batch of coffee. Like, there’s hardly any creamy or milky scent to accompany it. Woosh! Wake up and smell that! That is some strong coffee scent. I wonder why they had to add colour too!? What gives? I’m hoping the”natural flavors” is different because if I taste no difference between this and Mean Bean, I will be a sad Chas Rad. So, there is very little difference between this and Mean Bean. Reduced fat milk, brewed coffee (filtered water, coffee), sugar, glucose, natural flavors, taurine, sodium citrate, microcrystalline cellulose, panax ginseng extract, ascorbic acid, tricalcium phosphate, carrageenan, caffeine, sodium alginate, niacinamide, sucralose, color added, d-glucuronolactore, guarana extract, inositol, l-carnitine l-tartrate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin, maltodextrin. I’m thinking they might have added chocolate to it because Mean Bean might as well have been called “Plain Jane.” There’s slightly more fat in this compared to Mean Bean. These energy drinks usually have them.Ģ20 calories. I’ve also been slacking on the whole “warning: don’t drink this if you are a kid or a pregnant woman” thing, but I think I’ll only point that out if it isn’t on the can from now on. I feel like I have to write this disclaimer every time. So, is this going to be a crazy sheepskin or a crazy fine quality of coffee?Ĭontains milk. Okay, so a mocha late is what I’m thinking. The official definition of mocha is “a fine-quality coffee,” or “a soft kind of leather made from sheepskin.” Dang. What is mocha? I think it is coffee with chocolate. Look, my Spanish is not that great despite taking it in school. I know Vega called my Shepard “Loco” in Mass Effect. Loca is like “crazy” right, except it is adjusted for the feminine words. ![]() This is called Loca Mocha so I think of Spanish. Why is this one woody? What is it about coffee that makes people think of wood? Is it because coffee is grown on trees? If that’s the case, then why aren’t bananas featured with wood too? No problem! I still kinda like the woody design on this can, but I don’t really get it. It isn’t bad, it just isn’t as modified as Irish and Kona blend. Loca Mocha and Mean Bean both have this very plain wood look. If you look at Kona and Irish blend, they seem more involved. I’m thinking this was one of the original Java Monster because of the plain can design. This one is no different with the description on the side of the can. I haven’t followed a line of drinks this closely since…well, Kickstart. Overall - 15.9/20.Well, it is time again for Java Monster. Around lunch I was feeling a bit tired but all I had to do was rehydrate myself with some green tea. The caffeine had me on an energy high for a few hours and then I started to slowly lose it. Drinking the can gave me a nice boost in the morning with no jitters. It is higher by only 2 to 4 mg, but it technically is the highest. The one difference between Moca Loca and the other Monster Javas is the caffeine content - 190 mg. The Loca Moca tastes a lot like Mean Bean, there is hardly any difference between the two. This is still a great tasting iced coffee energy drink, but I was expecting a bolder coffee flavour. The coffee finish is rather short, but there is a long milky finish. The taste is light, milky and sweet with the coffee taste coming in mostly in the finish. OK, it does not taste as bold as I expected it to. Remember to shake these before opening as some of the stuff might be trapped at the bottom. That did the trick and the color changed to medium brown. Odd I thought so I gave it a good swirl and shook the bottom. The drink is not as dark as I expected it to be at first - it was light brown, a lot like Mean Bean. The label is dark, darker than all other Monster Javas. I haven't seen this kind of iced coffee energy drink many places, so when I came across it at Sobeys, I picked up a can for $2.99. This is the fourth, and last, kind of monster java that I am aware of.
